This unique aluminium sculpture is part of an ongoing series exploring the idea of façade, and the human drive towards human self-promotion through artificial means. Clarke is interested in how the need to foster an image of strength and imperiousness stretches back through history, from the act of wearing feathers in hair to denote importance and fearsomeness to the related adoption of helmets; Clarke is fascinated with figures and the armour they adopt to protect themselves, both in a physical and metaphorical sense. Regalia takes a fresh look at the idea of how couples present themselves to the outside world.
