Plumb produced a number of paintings for the 1963 Marlborough Gallery exhibition, exploring the effect of perfect circular compositions interrupted by white divisions. Following the shooting of John F Kennedy in 1963, Plumb added a version of the 'Stars and Stripes' as homage to a man he greatly admired.
