The 1960s saw Tunnard's interest in surrealism move on to an increasing fascination with outer space. His inspired imagination was rewarded with successful exhibitions in London, Germany, and New York. Most works from this period are in gouache, a medium in which he technically excelled, and appealed to both collectors and the informed imagination of scientists and engineers.
