Inspired by the granite tors of Cornwall’s high moors, the long-abandoned mine shafts from the county’s industrial past, and the menhirs, megaliths, and stone circles from its earliest civilisations, this sculpture is part of a new collection of work that reflects the physical structures that define the landscape of Hooper’s native Cornwall. The use of colour is intentional and meaningful, not just decorative but a nod to the hidden colourful layers of Cornwall’s mineral interior.
